Last night at Verizon Center:

SEEN AND HEARD

The Caps signed a pair of college players to contracts. Travis Morin, the team’s ninth-round pick in the 2004 draft, and Steve Pinizzotto, an undrafted free agent, both signed two-year entry-level contracts for 2007-08 and 2008-09.

Morin led Minnesota State of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association with 17 goals and 39 points in 38 games in his senior season. The 23-year old Morin, who is listed at 6-foot-2 and 195 pounds, was named a second-team all-WCHA selection. Pinizzotto is a 22-year old who had 13 goals and a team-high 44 points in his sophomore season for Rochester Institute of Technology of Atlantic Hockey.

Pinizzotto will report to Hershey of the AHL and Morin will be sent to South Carolina of the ECHL on professional tryout contracts for the remainder of the season.
