PROSPECTS UPDATE
With the field announced, a pair of Caps prospects will play in the NCAA tournament. Andrew Gordon — a seventh-round choice in the 2004 draft — and the St. Cloud State Huskies are the No. 2 seed in the East Region and will face third-seeded Maine in the opening round of the 16-team, single-elimination event this weekend. Defenseman Joe Finley, a first-round choice in the 2005 draft, and North Dakota are seeded third in the Midwest Region and play Michigan in the first round.
BY THE NUMBERS
.911 Save percentage for Caps goaltender Olie Kolzig, 13th in the league. Each of the 12 netminders ahead of him are on teams that would be in the playoffs if the season ended today.
4 Hat tricks for the Caps this season after Alexander Semin had his second. Chris Clark and Alex Ovechkin also have three-goal games to their credit. Add in Tomas Fleischmann’s pair, and it also was the fourth time this season Washington had two players score at least two goals in the same game.
