Notes: This is the third of four meetings between the teams. Washington has lost two straight games and five of its past 11 in a shootout. The Caps are 1-10 in them this season, but the one victory came against the Islanders. … Johnson did not practice yesterday, but it was just to rest. He has started eight straight games since Kolzig was injured. … The game will mark the return of Richard Zednik, who was traded to New York on Monday for a second-round pick in the 2007 draft. The Islanders entered last night in seventh place in the Eastern Conference with 73 points, and made maybe the biggest move at the trade deadline, acquiring Ryan Smyth from Edmonton.
