Today’s game

WASHINGTON CAPITALS AT ATLANTA THRASHERS

When: 7:30 p.m.

Where: Philips Arena

TV/radio: CSN, AM-1500, FM-107.7

Goalies: Capitals — Olie Kolzig (22-24-6, 3.00 in 2006-07) or Brent Johnson (6-15-7, 3.61). Thrashers — Kari Lehtonen (34-24-9, 2.79).

Injuries: Capitals — Out: D Steve Eminger (ankle), RW Eric Fehr (back/hip). Questionable: RW Alexander Semin (ankle). Thrashers — C Steve Rucchin (post-concussion syndrome).

Notes: Semin practiced yesterday but did not travel with the team to Atlanta. He is day-to-day with a sprained ankle. Matt Bradley has been in Semin’s place on the second line in practice, but Chris Clark also saw time in that spot in the final preseason game when Semin was hurt. There will be several members of the Swedish media at Philips to chronicle Nicklas Backstrom’s first NHL game and Michael Nylander’s return to the Caps’ lineup. The defending division champion Thrashers will have four rookies in the lineup — forwards Brett Sterling and Bryan Little and defensemen Tobias Enstrom and Mark Popovic.
