(AP) — A daughter of Sen. Bob Corker, Tennessee Republican, was carjacked Wednesday night in downtown Washington, D.C.

The daughter, 22-year-old Julia Corker, was not seriously hurt in the incident, which occurred at about 9 p.m. near the Verizon Center, the city’s major entertainment and pro sports venue.

Corker spokesman Todd Womack said the incident began when somebody knocked on Ms. Corker’s window while she was stopped at an intersection en route to an apartment where she lives. Mr. Womack said Ms. Corker rolled down the window, then was dragged from the car and thrown to the ground.

Mr. Womack said the senator was at the scene within minutes.

Sgt. Leroy Patterson, of the Seat Pleasant, Md., police department, said officers found the stolen Chevy Tahoe and took two people into custody. Sgt. Patterson would not release their names.
