THE BEST OF THE WEEKEND IN SPORTS

NASCAR Sprint Cup at Indianapolis

Drivers head to the Brickyard, where Jimmie Johnson and Tony Stewart have alternated wins the past four races. Jeff Gordon has won at Indy four times.

Tour de France

It appears Alberto Contador, not Lance Armstrong, will cross the Champs-Elysees with the yellow jersey. But kudos to all the riders for making it a race worth watching again after years of doping scandals.

Cardinals at Phillies

St. Louis looks to cling to its slim lead in the NL Central, while Philadelphia hopes to expand its big NL East lead.

TWT FIVE ” OVERPUBLICIZED NFL PLAYERS

1. Brett Favre - Make a decision already. Whatever it is, just make a decision.

2.Michael Vick - Things seemed so much quieter when he was in jail and out of sight.

3. Ben Roethlisberger - With the Steelers quarterback accused of sexual assault, the blogosphere and airwaves are filled with speculation, conjecture and uninformed commentary. Not sure whether we can take a whole season of that.

4.Tony Romo - He golfed with Tiger Woods. He broke up with his celebrity girlfriend. He still has yet to win a playoff game.

5. Terrell Owens - A reality show about this guy? Really, America?

HE SAID WHAT?

“That’s crazy. That is the last place on my mind. I was out of town. I guess it’s just someone trying to be hurtful.” - Michael Vick, responding to claims he went to a strip club his first night after being released from home arrest
