PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - Police arrested a city of Portland employee Wednesday and accused her of being involved in an auto theft ring.

She works in the Bureau of Transportation’s abandoned auto section and is suspected of taking money from a tow truck driver for information about abandoned vehicles.

KATU reports (https://bit.ly/1iigw3O) the tow truck driver would steal the cars and sell them as scrap to a car crusher.

Police say they learned about the city employee’s involvement during an auto theft investigation. She was jailed on charges of official misconduct and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
