CLARKSVILLE, Ark. (AP) - Johnson County authorities say a 51-year-old woman who disappeared while on a hike has returned home safely.

The county sheriff’s office said in a news release Friday that the woman apparently walked about six miles to a state highway where she was picked up and taken home shortly after 6 p.m. Thursday.

Her name was not released.

The release says the woman and her husband were hiking Thursday morning when she turned back to go home. The husband later called authorities to report her missing.

The woman apparently lost her way on the return trip and walked until she emerged on State Highway 21 where she was picked up by a motorist and returned to her home where she declined medical treatment.
