NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) - A woman whose car struck a state police cruiser and injured a trooper on Interstate 95 in Branford will serve 18 months in prison.

Thirty-six-year-old Tabitha Mase, who has lived in Branford and East Haven, was sentenced under a plea bargain Monday in New Haven Superior Court. The New Haven Register reports (https://bit.ly/1fxMucx ) that she pleaded guilty to second-degree assault with a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Trooper Kevin Duggan pulled over a car on the right shoulder of I-95 northbound early one morning in September 2011 and was walking toward the vehicle when Mase’s car hit his cruiser, when then hit him.

Duggan says he suffered a traumatic brain injury and still suffers headaches. He returned to work with light duties in November.
