NEW YORK (AP) - Police say a man has been hit by a car and killed while walking across a Queens street.

The New York Police Department was investigating Sunday after the crash Saturday night. It happened near the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and 107th Street in the Richmond Hill section of Queens.

Police say 54-year-old Oscar Pauzhi was found lying in the street with severe head trauma. He was pronounced dead on arrival at a hospital.

Investigators learned that a car was heading west on Atlantic Avenue when Pauzi stepped into the street, going north. Pauzhi lived in the neighborhood.

The driver stayed on the scene. No arrests have been made.
