BOURBONNAIS, Ill. (AP) - A 19-year-old man has been arrested following a fatal stabbing in Bourbonnais.

The (Kankakee) Daily Journal reports (https://bit.ly/1flTfDT ) 36-year-old David S. Kennett died Saturday night after he was stabbed multiple times. The stabbing occurred during a dispute at Kennett’s home in the community about 50 miles south of Chicago.

Ken McCabe is chief deputy for the Kankakee County Sheriff’s Department.

He says the suspect left the scene after the stabbing but was stopped a short distance away by Bradley police officers.

The suspect, who is also from Bourbonnais, has been preliminarily charged with first-degree murder and is being held at the Jerome Combs Detention Center. He’s scheduled for a bond hearing Monday afternoon.
