SUFFOLK, Va. (AP) - A Suffolk woman is dead and her husband and two children are hospitalized after their vehicle crashed into a pond.

Suffolk police tell media outlets that a vehicle driven by 25-year-old London Dubois Jr. of Suffolk ran off the road and went into a retention pond just before 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Police say a person who saw the accident pulled Dubois‘ 2-year-old daughter and 3-year-old son out of the partially submerged vehicle before rescue crews arrived.

Rescue crews found Dubois and his 23-year-old wife, Latasha Dubois. Latasha Dubois was later pronounced dead at an area hospital.

Police say London Dubois and the children also were taken to area hospitals. Their conditions weren’t immediately available.

The accident remains under investigation.
