GLASGOW, Scotland (AP) - Celtic goalkeeper Fraser Forster broke the Scottish league shutout record on Saturday as he kept a clean sheet for a 13th consecutive match against Hearts.

The Englishman surpassed Bobby Clark’s previous record of 1,155 consecutive minutes without conceding a goal - set during the 1970-71 season - by not being beaten in the first 31 minutes.

And Hearts failed to become the first team to beat the 25-year-old ‘keeper since Nov. 2 as Celtic won 2-0. Leigh Griffiths and Teemu Pukki scored the goals that clinched a 15th consecutive Scottish Premiership win for the leaders, but this was Forster’s day.

“I’d not given a lot of focus to (the record), but it’s nice, although it’s important to keep working hard,” Forster said. “We’ve obviously passed a couple of records on the way this season. Each week seems to be a different one - but credit to us as a team. There is motivation to go unbeaten until the end of the season. We’ve done really well to get this far.”

Celtic will now push for more records as the Glasgow side seeks to finish a top-flight campaign unbeaten for the first time since the 19th century and aim for its own record of 25 consecutive league wins, which was set in 2000-01. That was when rival Rangers was in the topflight with Celtic, but the Glasgow rival is currently in the third tier after being demoted following a financial meltdown.
