LAKELAND, Fla. (AP) - Beatrice Mompremier had 13 points and 15 rebounds to lead Miami High to a 49-33 victory over Port St. Lucie Treasure Coast in the Florida Class 8A girls basketball final.

Miami (32-1) led coast-to-coast in winning the school’s second girls basketball championship and didn’t allow Treasure Coast (23-6) to get any closer 10 points in the second half.

Leading 22-14 at halftime, the Stingarees had an answer for every threat that Treasure Coast presented. After a 3-pointer from Alexandra Kolb cut Miami’s lead to 33-21 early in the fourth quarter the Stingarees went on a 12-2 run to effectively end the contest.

Amanda Mendoza shined during the fourth quarter run for Miami as she scored six of her game-high 14 points. Antranae Alvin added 12 points for the Stingarees.

Rosemarie Julien had 10 points and six rebounds for Treasure Coast.
