In his excellent Commentary piece, “A sorry State of the Union” (Jan. 30), Andrew P. Napolitano could have included the following questions: What if President Obama had published an autobiography in which he listed among his favorite books he read in high school were by communists Ralph Ellison, W.E.B. DuBois and Malcolm X?

What if Mr. Obama wrote in the same book that, while a student at Occidental College, he chose Marxist professors? What if his expressed desire to fundamentally transform America — if necessary by ignoring Congress and using his executive pen and phone — stems from his early attraction to the ideology of those communist authors and professors?
