ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - Some students, parents and teachers in Anne Arundel County are pushing for a later start time for the county’s high schools.

High schools in the county currently start at 7:17 a.m., but there are calls for the board of education to push the start time back until at least 8 a.m.

The Capital of Annapolis reports (https://bit.ly/1njRftt ) that changing the start time would cost the county more than $8 million and would require more drivers and buses.

Others say they want to keep the start times as they are.

The school board recently voted to allow the interim superintendent to appoint a task force to study later start times. That task force is expected to offer recommendations by fall.
