BAYOU BLUE, La. (AP) - A chase through multiple communities that ended with the alleged suspect in police custody.

Terrebonne Sheriff Jerry Larpenter tells The Courier (https://bit.ly/1hjocop ) the body of 68-year-old Rickie Samanie was discovered just before 6 p.m. Tuesday at his home and Samanie’s black pickup was missing.

Larpenter says 38-year-old Cody Anthony Callais, of Houma, was spotted driving the missing truck, prompting a police chase that ended about four hours after Samanie’s body was discovered.



Callais is facing multiple charges, including murder.

It’s unclear how Samanie died; detectives said they found signs of a struggle inside the house. An autopsy is set for Thursday.

It was unclear whether Callais has an attorney.
