LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Dalton Adkins scored on a driving layup with 4.6 seconds remaining to lift Johnson Central to a 58-56 win over Campbell County on Wednesday night in the first round of the Kentucky boys Sweet 16 state basketball tournament at Rupp Arena.

The Golden Eagles (26-6) overcame a 12-point first-half deficit and increased their winning streak to 14 games. Johnson Central, the 15th Region champion, plays Scott County in the quarterfinals at 1:30 p.m. Friday. The Cardinals defeated Fleming County 77-66 Wednesday.

The Camels (21-9) had a chance to tie or win in the closing seconds but failed to get off a shot at the buzzer.

Kyle Gullett led the Golden Eagles with 22 points and nine rebounds. Truman Salyer followed with 15 points. Johnson Central had 11 blocks, led by Shane Hall with five.

The Camels, the 10th Region winner, got 18 points from Corey Holbrook and 16 points each from Deandre Jackson and Matt Wilson. Wilson added 21 rebounds to complement a double-double.
