LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Trent Gilbert scored 30 points to lead Scott County to a 77-66 win over Fleming County on Wednesday in the first round of the Kentucky boys Sweet 16 state basketball tournament.

The Cardinals (33-3), the 11th Region champions, advance to the finals and will play the Campbell County-Johnson County winner in the quarterfinals Friday.

Gilbert made three of his four 3-pointers and scored 11 points in the third frame. Gilbert sank a trey at the buzzer to cap his third-quarter performance and concluded his impressive outing with a breakway layup as time expired.

Raekwon Long, a 7-foot-1 center, added double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds for Scott County.

Troy Steward scored 15 points in the second half and led the Panthers, the Region 16 winner, with 20 points. Brady Saunders followed with 14 points and Darion Burns added 12 for Fleming County.
