COHOES, N.Y. (AP) - A New York City man is being held in an upstate jail after police say they found about three pounds of cocaine inside his vehicle after pulling him over.

State police say their narcotics investigators arrested 32-year-old Peter Gomez of Manhattan after his vehicle was pulled over Tuesday in the city of Cohoes (kuh-HOHZ’), just north of Albany.

Troopers say Gomez tried to flee on foot but was captured by the Cohoes Police Department’s K-9 unit.

Investigators obtained a search warrant for his vehicle and found more than 1,300 grams of cocaine with an estimated street value of $130,000.

Gomez was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and is being held in the Albany County Jail without bail. It couldn’t be determined if he has a lawyer.
