CHESTER, Pa. (AP) - Authorities in suburban Philadelphia say a report of shots fired near a high school prompted a school lockdown but police say they’re not sure if it happened.

Police in Chester in Delaware County say the report of gunfire in front of Chester High School came in at about 8:30 a.m. Monday.

Chester High School was placed on lockdown after the report, but officials said the lockdown was lifted shortly afterward.

Chester Deputy Police Commissioner Otis Blair said investigators are trying to determine if there was an actual shooting.

Blair said police have already concluded that nothing took place on the school grounds.
