RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - Add former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush to the endorsement list for Thom Tillis in North Carolina’s U.S. Senate primary next week.

Bush announced his support for the state House speaker through Tillis‘ campaign Thursday. Tillis already this week received the backing of Gov. Pat McCrory and U.S. Rep. Renee Ellmers.

Tillis is the leading fundraiser in the eight-candidate GOP primary and wants to avoid a runoff.

A Tillis release quotes Bush as praising Tillis on education and tax policy and for reduction regulations.

Other primary candidates are seeking outside help in the campaign’s final days. Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul is to campaign with Greg Brannon in Charlotte Monday. Mark Harris is touting a fundraiser Friday with a retired general and now No. 2 leader at the Family Research Council.
