SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Prison officials say an inmate died at the Utah State Prison in Draper on Monday morning after apparently committing suicide in his cell.

Utah Department of Corrections spokeswoman Brooke Adams says 65-year-old Frederick Ivan White was found after his cellmate returned from the prison chapel.

Adams says officers found White hanging from the top bunk bed.

White was pronounced dead at the prison infirmary.

Officials are investigating.

Adams says White had been out on parole since 2011 but was ordered back to prison in December for a parole violation. His parole was revoked on April 21.

White had previously served nearly nine years in prison for attempted child sexual abuse until he was released in 2011.
