MONROE, La. (AP) - The Ouachita Parish Police Jury has approved $500,000 to upgrade mobile computers for firefighters and law enforcement to make them compatible with new 911 dispatch software.

The News-Star reports (https://tnsne.ws/1imYLRh ) the jury passed the measure during a meeting Monday night.

The 911 advisory board will disperse the money to the various agencies. Some agencies have started upgrades but not all the computers are able to properly interface with new computer-aided dispatch software.

911 Director Craig Lott said the new software will only work on Windows 7 or higher.
