CALEXICO, Calif. (AP) - The U.S. Border Patrol says a citizen of Mexico who had been convicted of a sex offense in Riverside County was arrested when he tried to sneak back into the United States.
The Riverside Press Enterprise reports (https://bit.ly/1o6hOXY) 30-year-old Walter Inzunza Cervantes was taken into custody early Tuesday just east of the Calexico border crossing.
Cervantes had been convicted of sexual battery in Riverside and was sentenced to 123 days in jail. He failed to register as a sex offender and was sentenced to additional time.
Cervantes was deported in December 2013.
