GLOBE, Ariz. (AP) - A Hayden man is facing up to a 46-year prison sentence after being convicted of killing his ex-wife with a knife.

Gila County prosecutors say 38-year-old Guillermo Ortega III was found guilty of second-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder and four counts of aggravated assault.

He’s scheduled to be sentenced June 2 in Globe.

Prosecutors say Ortega attacked his ex-wife on April 28, 2013 in her home.

During the attack, the victim suffered fatal injuries to her neck.

The woman’s brother was inside the home at the time, heard a struggle and came to her aid.

Prosecutors say Ortega also attacked that man with the same knife and wounded him in the chest and neck.

Phoenix TV station KPHO reports Ortega was arrested hours later in Pinal County.
