CLINTON, N.C. (AP) - Authorities in Sampson County have arrested a juvenile in the killing of an 11-year-old Salemburg girl last year.

Sheriff Jimmy Thornton says the male suspect was arrested Tuesday and charged in the death of McKenzie Sessoms on Sept. 6.

The fifth-grader was found unresponsive on her living room couch. Authorities say she had been suffocated.

Thornton did not release the age of the juvenile or how he may have known the victim.

The juvenile is charged with first-degree murder.
