STILLWATER, Minn. (AP) - A Minnesota man is accused of kidnapping a 14-year-old New York girl that he met in an Internet chat room.

Fifty-three-year-old Michael Angelo Goerlich of Landfall faces two counts of kidnapping and one count of false imprisonment.

According to the criminal complaint, Goerlich arranged to meet the girl Sunday on a street corner near her home in Rochester, New York, and persuaded her to return with him to Minnesota.

On Tuesday, a Washington County sheriff’s deputy found the girl in a locked bedroom at the back of Goerlich’s mobile home. The complaint says she was talking on a cellphone with a police officer in Rochester and “appeared scared and confused.”

The Star Tribune (https://strib.mn/1mGRCDA ) reports bail for Goerlich is set at $1 million. The girl was in protective custody Thursday.
