The two organizations dedicated to electing GOP and Democratic governors ran about even in the money race over the last three months, but the Republican Governors Association spent far more freely.

The RGA raised $20.6 million from July to September, or about a half-million dollars more than the Democratic Governors Association.

But the RGA doled out $62.8 million in those three months, or nearly three times the $23.3 million spent by the DGA.

The RGA spent $4 million on the campaign to elect Republican Tom Corbett for the Pennsylvania governorship and $3.5 million for Bruce Rauner’s campaign in Illinois.

The DGA gave $2.5 million to Florida gubernatorial candidate Charlie Crist, and $2 million to Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn’s re-election campaign.
