I, for one, take President Obama’s speech to protect us from terrorists as just more empty words coming from an empty head, showing total disregard for the safety of this country.

Mr. Obama said he wants the Muslim community to turn in their own if they see something questionable. I’m sure in his own, delusional mind that Muslims would jump into action if they saw or heard something suspicious, putting themselves in the crosshairs of terrorists who would retaliate against them if they found out about the betrayal.

Mr. Obama also recently talked about more gun control, as though criminals and terrorists abide by the law. How, pray tell, are you going to stop bomb-making materials, Mr. President? You can put as many restrictions on gun owners as you want. All it will achieve is denying the people the right to protect themselves from the bad guys.

As a former combat Marine and Vietnam War veteran, I take exception to Mr. Obama’s premise that he doesn’t want to put boots on the ground against the Islamic State because that’s what the terrorist organization wants. First of all, it’s not about what they want, it’s about what we are compelled to do. We should have given the terrorists what they wanted a long time ago so they wouldn’t have been able to behead Americans and the other innocents they killed.

Mr. Obama’s assertion that it would be a long, drawn-out war is ridiculous if you consider that the Islamic State is made up of many members of the Iraqi army, which we defeated in 10 days. Excuses don’t protect anyone, Mr. President. You have left this country vulnerable to our enemies. I wonder if you will pat yourself on the back for protecting us when the terrorist infiltrators attack our homeland.
