CORNING, Iowa (AP) - The Iowa National Guard says it will be closing its armory in the southwest Iowa town of Corning.

The Guard said in a news release Monday that closing will affect about 80 soldiers. Detachment 1, Company B, 1st Battalion, 168th Infantry is assigned to the Corning armory. The unit will be consolidated next year with the main body of Company B, which is based at Camp Dodge in Johnston.

The armory was built in 1993. It will be the 13th Iowa armory to be closed as a result of consolidation and upgrades to facilities.

The nearly 21,000-square-foot armory will be sold.
