MEW

“+ -“

Pias America

Returning after a six-year break, Denmark’s pride, MEW, is back and heading for D.C. this weekend with a new album, “+ -” behind them. The Danes’ strangely hypnotic tunes lull the listener into a state of ecstasy and reverie, particularly on “The Night Believer” and “Making Friends.” “Clinging to a Bad” provides a sonic soundscape unlike anything else you’ll likely encounter this year, while “Cross the River on Your Own” bears echoes of some early Yes and America sounds.

MEW will be appearing in the District Friday at the iconic 9:30 Club, located at 815 V ST. NW. Doors will open at 10 p.m., with The Dodos opening for MEW. Tickets are $25. For more information or to purchase tickets, call 877/435.9849 or visit 930.com.
