ANALYSIS/OPINION:

Donald Trump’s slogan sounds Reagan-esque (“A nation worse for wear,” Web, April 5) because it was in Ronald Reagan’s acceptance speech in the 1980 campaign. It was also the theme of the Republican convention that year.

President Reagan didn’t finish meeting the goals he outlined for America, and President Obama has transformed America further away from them. Americans must challenge Mr. Trump and his opponents to tell us how they’ll meet those goals today. Press candidates to tell us how they plan to put the unemployed back to work, give skills to the unskilled, and restore hope in those who have lost it. That is how we will, in the words of Mr. Reagan, “make America great again.”
