The #NeverTrump movement should look to history to guide its rhetoric and voting behavior. In the 2012 presidential election, between three and five million Republicans abstained from voting, and their absence contributed to President Obama’s victory. Because Hillary Clinton promises to create a third Obama term, those in the #NeverTrump movement need to ask themselves two questions: Was the United States better off with Mr. Obama as president than it would have been with a Presdent Mitt Romney? Did the absent Republicans make a wise voting decision by contributing to Mr. Obama’s win?

If the answer to these two questions is no, those in the #NeverTrump camp should not contribute to a Clinton victory in 2016 by repeating the mistakes of the 2012 election. Rather, they should cease their anti-Trump rhetoric vote for Donald Trump and encourage others to do the same.
