A four-car pile-up deemed a “mass casualty” by D.C. first responders injured 10 people, left one car atop of another and tied up two lanes of traffic on Route 295 during Thursday morning rush-hour.

One person faces life-threatening injuries, one is seriously injured, and the rest of the 10 victims have minor injuries, D.C. Fire and EMS tweeted.

The accident on Route 295 Southbound and Burroughs Avenue Southeast has now been cleared.
