NORRISTOWN, Pa. (AP) - A longtime suburban Philadelphia defense lawyer withdrew a guilty plea in which he admitted to raping an unconscious client at her apartment last year.

Vincent Cirillo Jr. was scheduled to be sentenced Friday for raping the 22-year-old client. He pleaded guilty in October.

His attorney tells The Philadelphia Inquirer (https://bit.ly/2hsMJjI ) Cirillo “was uncomfortable pleading guilty” and prefers a jury trial to determine the outcome.

Prosecutors say the woman hired Cirillo last year to represent her in a criminal matter. She told police she believes Cirillo drugged her in August 2015 after someone found her unconscious on her bed in only her underwear.

Cirillo said nothing as he was led from the courtroom Friday.

He’s also facing charges in another case in which he’s accused of impersonating his accuser’s lawyer to obtain her confidential records.
