“Waking up the Giants”

L.A. electronic alternative band Grizfolk wake the slumbering titans on this disc for Virgin. Standout tracks include the high-energy “The Struggle” and the elegiac-but-upbeat ode to the reggae legend in “Bob Marley.” The titular cut warns listeners to not go poking slumbering giants lest the consequences overwhelm the disturber, while “Waiting for You” is a hopeful love song that is somewhat reminiscent of such acts as The Lumineers and fun. “Bounty on My Head” is also a catchy tune, with “Wide Awake” a potent album-closer.

And just in time for Valentines’ Day, Grizfolk will be coming to the District’s Rock & Roll Hotel Feb. 13 for an 8 p.m. show. Tickets are $15 by going to Ticketfly.com.
