In the United States of America, we as citizens have the right and high privilege of choosing our government. Team Obama wants to allow non-citizens to do so, as well.

That would be the practical effect of arguments the Justice Department made in federal court yesterday in support of the League of Women Voters and other leftist groups. They object to various states’ requirements that, before you cast a ballot, you must establish your eligibility to do so by showing proof of citizenship.

To his credit, Federal Judge Richard Leon made clear his incredulity that the Justice Department would not defend the law and the independent Election Assistance Commission in enforcing it. He will rule on the matter today.

Let’s hope he rejects the Obama administration’s outrageous efforts to allow illegal immigrants and other non-citizens to help it fundamentally transform America.
