ANALYSIS/OPINION:

The British voting public may not be as sophisticated as some ‘Brexit’ naysayers would like, but they are smart enough to know that they don’t like what the European Union has done to their country. They exercised their right to vote to leave it. As Clifford D. May notes in “Rule Britannia” (Web, June 28): “That’s called Democracy. Is there a preferable alternative?”

Detractors should note that the Brexit vote was a rebellion of the masses against the rule of unelected elites. If the American electorate votes for change, it will not be because they don’t know what’s right, but because they know what’s not working (Obamacare, the creep-up poverty of the Obama economy, and the blame-America-first foreign policy as implemented by Hilary).

The old saw of the liberal elite that only those sufficiently informed (i.e., those in agreement with the liberal viewpoint) should vote is about a wrong as the rest of the left’s thinking.
