As a political independent I have a right and requirement to speak. I see a country with two large political parties squirming to either retain or achieve leadership. The Democrats have chosen as their presumptive leader a completely self-serving individual who has never shown any leadership qualities. The Republicans have watched as their presumptive candidate has beaten back 16 of the best that the party can offer. His offer of “Making America Great Again” is largely falling deaf on Republican ears.

What is so wrong with the pledge to make America great again? Why do many professional Republican politicians not realize that this is a great theme? If the Republicans want to attract me they should realize they need a leader. They may not like Donald Trump’s manner. They may not like his speech. But his theme is honest and can be achieved.

President Obama is a leader and his Democratic followers march in lockstep behind him. Unfortunately this march is spiraling downward so that being an American has lost its meaning, and the country is divided in too many ways.

The Republican Party has no leadership and is sorely in need of one. Unless they drop their politically correct inhibitions and honestly try to make America great again the downward spiral will crescendo and we shall follow Mr. Obama in the hole where he flourishes.
