Three brothers were taken into custody in the Sunday night slaying of a Prince George’s County Police officer after they ambushed the department’s District 3 station in Palmer Park, Maryland, police officials said.

The evidence shows the gunman intended to die during a gunbattle with police, officials added.

Police did not name the three brothers, but confirmed they are from Prince George’s County.

The Washington Post reported Sunday night that brothers Malik and Michael Ford had been taken into custody, but did not mention a third brother.

The Post cited two family members as saying that the men are brothers and ahd been arrested in the death of Officer Jacai Colson.

Police declined to confirm if the two brothers were involved in what officials called an unprovoked attack.

Erica Thomas, 39, of the District, told The Post she is the brothers’ aunt and that Michael Ford was shot by police in the gunfight after the apparent ambush.
