ANALYSIS/OPINION:

While the Republicans and Democrats do battle for supremacy over which party will run the country, our youths are out in the world without discipline or respect. A recent segment on youth violence on TV’s “The O’Reilly Factor” got me to thinking. Kids in inner cities are killing each other with impunity. Parents have given up and schools have become battlegrounds.

I see college students denying others’ right to free speech if they don’t like someone’s position or ideology. Protesters incite riots and shout down challengers as if their way is the only way.

As a Vietnam War Marine veteran and former law enforcement officer, I believe our children are being brainwashed to become anarchists by liberal professors and teachers who have contempt for our country. Kids spout off nasty rhetoric they learn in school before they go out into the real world, spreading their ignorance as if what they have been taught is factual.

As it stands most kids today know how to use an electronic device but don’t have a clue how to defend themselves. By the looks of things in the news media, our kids haven’t learned respect or discipline at home or in their schools. I think our military can educate them and prepare them for the real world, giving them the right to voice their opinions.

If we are ever invaded or go to war, there will be very few who will know how to fight. I believe we should reinstate the draft to give them and our country a fighting chance.
