KINGMAN, Ariz. (AP) - Mohave County sheriff’s officials say a shooting involving a deputy has left a Kingman man dead.

Bullhead City police, who are investigating the shooting, say the incident happened early Saturday when a Mohave County deputy conducted a traffic stop.

Authorities say 34-year-old Kenneth Jack Kennedy tried to flee in his car and hit two police vehicles as a result.

Kennedy allegedly drove toward the deputy, who fired at him.

Police say Kennedy died at the scene. His wife was also in the car but was not injured.

The deputy, who has been placed on paid administrative leave, has been with the sheriff’s office for eight years.
