HILLSIDE, N.J. (AP) - Bail has been set at $1 million for a New Jersey man charged in the death of his girlfriend, whose body was found in his apartment earlier this month.
Union County prosecutors say 22-year-old Emmanuel Dike, of Hillside, was captured at a Newark hotel. He’s charged with murder in the death of 20-year-old Jersey City resident Christa Capers.
She was found unresponsive in Dike’s apartment on Oct. 20 after someone there called police. She was pronounced dead there a short time later, but a cause of death has not been determined.
Several law enforcement agencies quickly began an intensive search that spanned several states. It culminated Thursday when a Hillside police officer saw Dike’s vehicle in the hotel’s parking lot.
It wasn’t known Sunday if Dike has retained an attorney.
