AUBURN, Maine (AP) - A Maine man has been charged with attempted murder in the stabbing attack of his then-girlfriend in July.

The Sun Journal (https://bit.ly/2dDXoXE ) reports that an Androscoggin County grand jury indicted 44-year-old Eric Griffey on Tuesday of charges including attempted murder and elevated aggravated assault.

Griffey remains jailed in lieu of $250,000 cash bail.

The judge ordered a psychological evaluation of Griffey.

Authorities say Griffey attacked the woman with a kitchen knife at their Auburn home and chased her outside. Police say neighbors pulled him off of her and disarmed him.

Griffey’s attorney says his client has no criminal history or violent tendencies.
