ANALYSIS/OPINION:

If the recent attempt by Islamists to kill Coptic Pope Tawadros II does not finally open the eyes of the world to the fact that Islam is not a religion but an ideology seeking total domination, then we are blind (“Suicide bombers kill 44 at Palm Sunday services in Egypt,” Web, April 9).

Islam has been a killing machine since its inception. The Koran is full of statements like “kill the non-believers,” “We call upon the angels to help us with the non-believers,” “All non-believers will burn in hell,” etc. It is this kind of language that was the cause of millions of deaths during the Caliphate era, and now is again under the Islamic State, the Taliban, Boko Haram and small-scale terrorist attacks.

Terrorism will not stop unless and until the world demands that the spiritual and government leaders of Islam call upon their practitioners to cease the killings, and remove such violent “non-believer” language from the Koran. The world will accept Islam as a religion when Islam begins behaving like a religion.
