CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - A 38-year-old South Carolina man is accused of fatally shooting a man who recently moved to the area.

Local media report Douglas Young of North Charleston is charged with murder and gun possession in Saturday’s death of 30-year-old Christopher Mullen.

Charleston police say Mullen died at a local hospital after being shot at 8:40 a.m. near an intersection in downtown Charleston. He had moved to Charleston from Bluffton in Beaufort County.

Young remained in the Charleston County jail Monday. Jail records do no list an attorney for Young.

The Island Packet of Hilton Head Island reports Mullen was among two men arrested by Beaufort County deputies July 5 on allegations they drove through a parking lot and fired shots outside a restaurant on Hilton Head Island.
