AUBURN, Maine (AP) - State police say a dispatcher with the Maine Department for Public Safety has been arrested on a charge of possessing child pornography.

Police say 43-year-old Eric Kramarz was arrested at his apartment in Auburn on Wednesday and taken to the Androscoggin County Jail. They say the computer crimes unit got a tip that Kramarz had been communicating over social media with young girls and obtaining sexually explicit material from some of them.

Police say a cellphone belonging to Kramarz was seized and will be analyzed. They say nothing inappropriate was found on department computers where he worked. Kramarz has been placed on administrative leave with pay.

No one answered a phone call to a number listed for Kramarz on Thursday. It was unclear if he had an attorney.
