ALEXANDRIA, La. (AP) - Three prisoners housed at the U.S. Penitentiary in Pollock, Louisiana, have pleaded guilty to the assault of an inmate that resulted in injuries.

U.S. Attorney Stephanie A. Finley’s office says 35-year-old Jason Mackenzie, 32-year-old Robert Shipp Jr. and 42-year-old Calvin Skelton jumped the victim while he was reading a newspaper in the cell block on Oct. 21, 2015. They then punched and kicked him repeatedly.

The victim underwent multiple surgeries to repair injuries form the assault.

Finley, in a news release Tuesday, said the men face up to 10 years in prison, one to three years of supervised release and a $250,000 fine.

Sentencing is set for May 26.
