CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - Officials have started advertising the opening for state schools superintendent.

The Charleston Gazette-Mail reports (https://bit.ly/2lv6Pwt ) that the West Virginia Board of Education posted the job opening on Friday.

During a meeting Thursday, board members approved posting the position and directed board President Tom Campbell to appoint a superintendent search committee. The job will be posted for about 15 business days, with an application deadline of March 10.

Campbell said he hopes to hire a new superintendent to take office July 1, following the departure of Superintendent Michael Martirano last June.
